Carnelian DC — choose this if you have a power source and camp regularly

The DC range charges via USB-C — plug it into a power bank, a car USB port, a solar panel, or an EHU hookup and you're ready to go with no ongoing battery cost. Over multiple camping trips, the higher upfront cost (£49.99) is offset by not buying D-cell batteries.

The trade-off is runtime. At full 1,000-lumen brightness, the DC 1000 gives around 4 hours from its 4,400 mAh battery. On lower brightness settings that extends significantly — but it's a meaningful difference from the battery version's 40 hours. If you're camping without a reliable way to recharge, the DC range requires more planning.

The DC 1000 is also larger (11.5 × 11.5 × 20 cm) and heavier (610 g) than its battery equivalent.

Which Is Better for South West Camping?

Most campsites in Cornwall and Devon offer EHU hookup pitches — if you use hookup, the DC range is the more convenient long-term choice. Charge it from your leisure battery or hookup socket and you'll never need to think about batteries again.
